Case review: full-text search

Written by amaise Support

amaise offers two search functions: case search in the case overview and full-text search within a case.

Case search in the case overview

In the case overview, you can search for cases using the search bar. The search covers:

  • Display name of the case

  • Reference number

  • Company name

  • Custom fields

Note: The first and last name of the insured person are not searched.

Full-text search within a case

Full-text search lets you search all documents in a case for specific terms. The search scope is always limited to the currently open case — cross-case search is not possible.

Where do I find the search?

The search field is located in the top bar within a case. It is only visible in the “Case review” view — the search is not available in the “Dashboards” and “Case timeline” views.

Suggestions while typing

As soon as you enter a search term, suggestions appear. These include:

  • Full-text hits — documents containing the entered text

  • Document types — matching document categories

  • Labels — assigned labels

  • Diagnoses (ICD-10) — medical diagnosis codes

  • Metadata fields — title, issuer, recipient, date

Click a suggestion to run the search directly.

Search history

Under “Recently searched,” your last 3 search queries are shown so you can quickly access previous searches.

What is searched?

The search scans the entire OCR-recognized text of all documents in the case:

  • Person names — find documents mentioning specific people

  • Technical terms — search for medical diagnoses, legal terms, or other technical expressions

  • Dates and references — find documents by date or reference numbers

  • Any text passages — any text contained in the document is searchable

Search results

The document list is filtered by the search and shows only documents containing the search term. Hits are highlighted in the document so you can quickly find the relevant passages.

Search tips

  • Exact search with quotation marks — To search for an exact word or phrase, put the search term in quotation marks. For example: "How did it go" — this shows only hits with exactly that word combination.

  • Show all results — Press Enter to display all search results in the document list.

  • Remove search filter — Click the “x” in the search chip in the document list to clear the filter.

  • Jump to hit — Click the orange magnifying glass icon in the PDF viewer to jump directly to the place in the document where the search term appears.

  • Handwriting is also found — The search scans both typed terms and handwritten notes, as long as they were recognized by OCR.
