Case review: document list

Written by amaise Support

The document list is the central element in case review. It shows all documents of a case and offers various ways to navigate and organize. Alongside the document list, you have the CasePilot (AI chat for the entire case) and the DocPilot (AI chat for the selected document) as complementary panels.

View modes

You can switch between different views of the document list:

  • Cards — standard view with document details

  • Minimal — compact list view with fewer details

  • Thumbnail — preview images of the first page of each document

  • Summary — shows the AI-generated summary directly in the list

Structure of the document list

Depending on the view mode, each document in the list shows at a glance:

  • Document type — icon and color indicate the classification

  • Title — the recognized or assigned document title

  • Document date — when the document is dated

  • Receipt date — when the document was received

  • Page count — how many pages the document has

  • Issuer — who issued the document

  • Summary — an AI-generated short summary of the content (depending on view mode)

Dossier and document type chips

Depending on the selected view mode and your settings, chips for the related dossier and document type may appear under a document. You can use these chips to quickly filter for similar documents.

Read/unread status

image

Each uploaded document is marked as unread by default. The read status is indicated by the background color in the document list:

  • White — the document is unread

  • Gray — the document has already been read

  • Dark blue — the currently opened document

You can manually change the read status by clicking the circle to the left of the document title. Using the Unread filter in the filter bar, you can restrict the list to unread documents. There you also find the option to mark all documents as read at once.

Open document

Click a document in the list to open it in the PDF viewer. The selected document is highlighted in the list.

Actions per document

Three-dot menu

Through the context menu (three-dot menu) of a document, you have the following options:

  • Change document type — adjust the document’s classification

  • Adjust labels — add or remove labels

  • Add missing document data — add metadata like date or issuer. You can also edit title, document date, sender, company, and specialist title directly by double-clicking the corresponding field in the document list.

  • Link with previous document — merge the document with the one above

  • Mark duplicates of this document — identify identical documents in the case

  • Open source file — view the originally uploaded file

Hover actions

When you hover over a document row, additional actions appear:

  • Favorite (star icon) — mark or unmark the document as a favorite

  • Delete (trash icon) — move the document to the trash. Documents in the trash remain there permanently and are not deleted automatically.

Sort documents

image

The sort icon is located on the right in the filter bar above the document list — at the far right next to the filter chips. The current sort criterion is shown as a tooltip when you hover over it.

Clicking the icon opens a menu with all available sorting options:

Option

Description

Document date (oldest first)

Sorts by the document’s date, oldest documents first

Document date (newest first)

Sorts by the document’s date, newest documents first

Receipt date (oldest first)

Sorts by the date the document was received, oldest first

Receipt date (newest first)

Sorts by the date the document was received, newest first

Original order (as in source file)

Keeps the order in which the documents appeared in the uploaded files

Title A-Z

Alphabetically ascending by document title

Title Z-A

Alphabetically descending by document title

Document date vs. receipt date

When sorting by date, two different date values are available:

  • Document date — the date shown on the document itself, i.e., when it was issued or created. This date is recognized by AI from the document content.

  • Receipt date — the date the document was received in the case, i.e., when the source file was uploaded.

The selected sorting is saved automatically and restored on your next visit.
