Case overview: Split large PDFs before uploading

A PDF file can have a maximum of 2000 pages when uploading. If your file is larger, use your browser’s print function to split it into several smaller PDFs. Follow these steps.

1. Open the PDF in your browser

  1. In your file explorer, locate the PDF file you want to split.

  2. Right-click the file and select "Open with" from the context menu.

  3. Choose the browser you want to open the file with.

2. Open and configure the print dialog

  1. In your browser’s PDF view, find the printer icon at the top right and click it to open the print dialog.

  2. In the print dialog, set the following options:

    • Destination: select "Save as PDF" (or a similar option).

    • Pages: choose "Custom".

    • Page range: enter the range to include in the new PDF (e.g., 1-1999). Make sure no single document is split across two files.

  3. Click "Save" and name the new file. Use a consistent naming scheme, e.g., <<OriginalFilename>>_1.pdf.

3. Repeat the process for the next sections

  1. Repeat the previous step for the next section of the PDF.

    • Set the start page to the next page number (e.g., 2000-∞, depending on the document length).

  2. Save this section under an appropriate name, e.g., <<OriginalFilename>>_2.pdf.

Tip: Upload the individual partial files as usual in the file manager — they will be automatically recognized as belonging together if uploaded to the same case.
